Home Remedies of Dry Eyes
Dry eye is a state characterized when your eyes loose water from the tear film. As a the tear film becomes saltier, your eyes start burning and later there is a sensation of dryness and sandy-gritty irritation. This is the symptoms of dry eyes.
Dry eyes aren’t only aggravating and painful, they can be an actual medical condition. When you have dry eyes, it means that you lack the necessary tears to perform normal eye functions, like removing debris and outside irritants from the eye. While you can see your doctor about eye drops, some home remedies might be effective enough to moisten your eyes so that you have the lubrication that you need.

Eye hygiene had to be kept in order to stop the entry of dust, microbes to enter the eyes causing inflammation in eyes.
Place the fresh cucumber slices on the eyes to make them cool and numb the drying sensation. These contain excess water in side them to bring the cooling sensation.
Flaxseed oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and is helpful in treating dry eyes.
Castor oil is good remedy for dry eyes as it acts as a water retainer.
Lavender oil when mixed with water makes a solution that provides a smoothening effect to the dry eyes and is an effective home remedy.
Cold milk or rose water
Dip a piece of cotton either in rose water or cold milk and apply it on your eyes closed. Leave it for about 10 minutes. This will allow the dry eyes to relax.
According to Ayurveda, oil must be applied on head and on the sole of your feet every night before going to bed. This procedure is believed to counter vatadosha or the “wind dysfunction”.
Humidifiers or air-conditioners keep the surrounding environment moist. This is essential for the for speedy recovery of patients. These can help avoid dry air and provide moisture for the patient’s eyes.
Aloe vera application on the eyelid regularly reduces the symptoms of dry eyes.
A diet consisting of essential fatty acids like omega 3 or omega 6 present in dried fruits and grains, like walnuts, sesame, grape seed, almonds and whole grain help in eradicating the problem of dry eyes.
Soak a towel in warm water, remove excess water and cover the upper face for 15-20 minutes. This would maintain the moisture in the eyes.
